Problem with partition

Asked by Utkarsh Rao

I was running Ubuntu 10.10 with no problems at all. My friend accidentally updated to Natty 11.04 Beta version yesterday. For some reason it was completely incompatible and my mouse and keyboard don't work. Luckily, i had a live CD and I installed 10.10 alongside, in order to salvage my data. I've managed to do so, but as my current partition is the root, I am unable to resize after deleting the 11.04 partition. Is there a way to fix this?

If you boot to liveCD you should be able to do what you wish with your partitions and reinstall. Do the keyboard and mouse not work at all?

They do not work on the 11.04 installation at all, but they work on 10.10. I'm currently using the 10.10 partition. But I want to delete the 11.04 partition and resize the 10.10 one, and it isn't letting me.

If you boot to liveCD you can manipulate partitions as you need as the pratitions will not be mounted or in use. Make sure your backups are sufficiently recent in case of catastrophe

Can you help with this problem?
