Difficulties uninstalling Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook

Asked by Andrei

I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 netbook from a bootable USB stick.

It modified my partition.

Now, from windows XP pro, I can't see the partition created by ubuntu. In My Computer(inside windows xp), I only see drive C and D, just like before.
Partition magic "Driver letter can not be identified".

How do I uninstall Ubuntu and make it so that everything was just like before installing it?

I'm a normal PC user, so please provide me with a decently simple technique.

Thank you.

Use the build in xp-partionmanager to delete the partion.

Accessing the partion without the proper file-system driver is not possible.

Knuth: I've tried deleting it using Disk Manager, and after the first restart, troubles struck.
It was informing me that the partition doesn't exist, and "press any key to continue". Then, a kind of terminal opened in which I could type in commands.

I had to reinstall Ubuntu again...

This makes me hate Ubuntu. And I don't like hating Ubuntu...

Partitioning is not a 'noob' task unfortunately. It is very easy to make a mistake if instructions are not followed precisely. I would recommend finding a decent 'how to' and going that route.

A good tool to modify partitions is Parted Image, this is a livecd environment so you don't have to work from the limited initramfs.

Good luck,
