not able to resize partitions with gparted live CD

Asked by Koen Cosyns

I burned the Gparted iso file on a CD and booted ubuntu 10.10. Gparted was launched but I was unable to reduce my /home partition or to increase my / partition. How come?

Hi Koen

You are trying to do very risk tasks and you provide very little information about what you did and what failed.

If you are not sure how to use gparted you should not use it.

After issuing all the tasks in gparted, did you select the "Apply all operations" button?

i'm assuming you booted onto you hard drive. you can't use gparted if you did. you will need to boot from the live image cd or usb stick before you can use gparted to repartition your hard drive.
