formatting a hard drive in ntfs using ubuntu 10

Asked by Michael Taylor

I have an external hard drive that I formatted as FAT on my Ubuntu Laptop. My Windows 7 PC doesn't recognise it or at least it doesn't appear in my computer as a hard drive.

Can I format it as NTFS?

If so how?

Yes install and use gparted package to manage partition and to format the drive

You'll also need ntfs-tools installing too, gparted can't do NTFS without this.
