Partition sd1 is fullsize, and GParted will not allow me to reduce it.

Asked by Dave Allen

I inadvertently made the Ubuntu oartition on my netbook its maximum size. (230GB !!). I want to reduce this and put in an extended partition, but GParted will not let me resize it. How can I get out of this bind? There's only Ubuntu 10.04 in there.

Boot to liveCD and perform the actions there. If you run:

mount

and see it mounted then unmount the partition which will free up the disk and you can do as you please
