Do you have
  - data to backup
  - data on one of Ubuntu partition you can't backup ?
You have two Ubuntu ext#fs partitions ? Do you want one or two partitions ?

If you have any data to save and want only one partition:
1) Boot on Ubuntu 9.10 CD and choose "Try but don't install"
2) System->Administration->Gparted
2.1) Remove partitions 5, 6 and 7.
2.2) In new free space you can:
2.2.a) Make a single ext3fs partitions, which will host whole Ubuntu 9.10
2.2.b) Make two partitions: one for "/" i.e. system and one for "/home" i.e. your data. Next time you will make a fresh install, Ubuntu will keep your data untouched on "/home". Today, I use 6 GB for system, so you could reserve 10 GB.
3) Select on desktop "Install"
4) In partition screen, select manual partition, and attached right mounted point "/" (and "/home" for 2.2.b)
5) Continue installation

Please don't reply via mail to Launchpad mail notification but visit directly your question Launchpad site link.
Replying via mail to launchpad message might expose your email address to the net and you will give a lot of
spam.

Launchpad discards attached file.
Send it directly to:
      <email address hidden>
and please, don't reply via mail to Launchpad, or else remove the message to which you reply.
When you ask an action to GParted, it's not executed immediately. You have to click on the green "arrow" (don't know english word).

Did you boot from Ubuntu CD ?
When you use Gparted, you need first to unmount each partition you want to delete.

I suspect someone guess your password and is sending spam. Could you change your password.
When you change original comment, please add to this one but don't remove old contents.
I manage lot of questions, and have to read each time the whole question as I can't remember all questions.
Could you ADD in TOP of first comment the result of command "parted -l" and explains what you want, as I'm a little lost.
