Updated version

Asked by Alex

Any chance we can expect an updated version. I raised this some time ago, but haven't got much traction so far.

Which Ubuntu release are you referring to?

You have to be aware that Ubuntu is copying packages from Debian (to avoid double packaging work) and also in Debian has only the same version as Ubuntu. There is already a bug report in Debian requesting an update, but that has not yet been done, https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=975550

Having an updated version on both 20.04 and 22.04 would be nice. The version currently available in ancient and has several significant security vulnerabilities linked against it.

Maybe it would be better to remove this package completely. Having security issues exposed and no elegant fix presents a problem.

Can you help with this problem?
