Decrypting a file

Asked by Iqbal

Hi,
I installed GPG in Windows.
I made a key. Encrypted a file with the help of this key. I exported this key and saved on my computer. Thereafter, I removed the key. I imported the key back in Kleopatra. I did all the steps in Kleopatra.
Now I tried to decrypt the file using the imported key, it does not decrypt the file.

If I try to encrypt another file using the imported key then it shows the following message.

None of the recipients you are encrypting to seems to be your own.
This means that you will not be able to decrypt the data anymore, once encrypted.
Do you want to continue, or cancel to change the recipient selection?

How to my use imported key for decrypting a files?

The concern is - if I preserve the key after encrypting files with this key and uninstall Kleopatra and in future reinstall Kleopatra on another computer or any other software for decrypting files, would I be able to decrypt files using preserved key? Or I would be unable toe decrypt files because of above problem?

regards,

iqbal

How is this Ubuntu related? You haven't ever mentioned it in the question.

Did you encrypt the file in Windows and then are trying to decrypt it in Ubuntu?
