Chess - Using Large amounts of CPU when on Normal difficulty

Whenever I play Chess on the Normal computer difficulty, the app uses large amounts of CPU power? O_o

I tried putting this as a bug report BUT EVERY DAMN TIME I TRY TO FILE ONE, I GET A TIMEOUT ERROR!!! :(

hi gogedan! I am also a chessplayer. Some clients (with their engines) do take a lot of CPU. xboard/eboard pa.
Gnuchess doesn't. You can add as many chessengines to this client as you want and your cpu doesn't go wild.
Gnuchess it the default chessclient on gnome, please give it a try!

Would you please disable compiz/desktop effects, and take a look which process is going wild when playing gnuchess?
Run a top in the terminal, maybe an unexp. process, you never know. :)

sorry i use the chess game in the gnome-games package...glchess. which runs fine with al engines...
choose 2d instead of 3d rendering.

It is in 2D mode already. AND I AM USING THE SAME ONE.

the chess engine crafty is the engine with less use of CPU power, so try this engine when playing against art. intel.
(It is by the way a strong engine)

If you have composition enabled like 3-d chess and then you are
playing, during the game this is okay :)
