I am looking for a Quicken type program to run under Ubuntu 10.04 or later.

Seems gnucash is a Quicken clone.
You can install it from:

Applications→Ubuntu Software Center

or from terminal Applications→Accessories→Terminal using apt-get with this command:

sudo apt-get install gnucash

the system ask you a password give your user password, you will not see nothing when you type it, then press enter

If you use kde you can also try kmoney.
