downloaded backgammon site shows incomplete board

Asked by oz756c

I successfully downloaded a backgammon game, "partygammon.com" using WINE onto Ubutru, 8.04, however, although the game plays as it should, the board appears to have been truncated to where the lower right hand side is missing. This would include the '''roll dice" button.

My computer is a Dell Latitude D810.

Thank you in advance.

Have you already tried: gnubg

Using Synaptic please first enable the universe repository:

Open the menu: System->Administration->Software source: Ubuntu software

enable "Community Maintained open source software (universe)"

Then open a Terminal from the menu Applications->Accessories->Terminal and type:

sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude install gnubg

give your user password when requested, you don't see nothing when you type it, then press enter.

Then to play gnubg using terminal type:

gnubg

To have an icon on your desktop... please add a launcher:

Right click with mouse on your desktop select "Create Launcher":

Type: Applications
Name: gnubackgammon
Command: /usr/games/gnubg -w

Hope this helps

Please tell which Desktop Environment you are using: Ubuntu (Gnome) or Kubuntu (kde)...?
If you are using Ubuntu with Gnome you must have the

System->Administration->Software source: Ubuntu software menu

Thank you
