I have just installed Ubuntu on a new SATA drive and i am unable to add new partitions through fdisk

The disk size is 250GB

A fdisk -l yields the following:

# fdisk -l

Why can't I add additional partions?

How many disk you have...?
Here we see two disk /dev/sda and /dev/sdb and /dev/sda may not be "new" there are a lot of partitions on it ;-)

If is your new hard disk /dev/sda, have you tried to use gparted on your /dev/sda hard disk...?

Hi

I want to say that fdisk unable to read any thing but ((NTFS)) & ((FAT 16 or 32)) any thing else he will not read it.

for example ( if you have a 250 giga hard disk and you partitioning it to two partitions 100 giga ntfs and 150 giga ext3 or any kind but the two kind that are mention above the fdisk well be able to read the first partition which are ntfs but the other partition fdisk will not be able to read it.

so there are another program called (( partition magic )) it will be able to read any kind of partitions.
