You have tried to Installed a package made by a third party for Ubuntu 11.10 on Ubuntu 12.04. This is very likely to give you issues.

Unfortunately gnomebaker is not under any development since 2008 and so it was dropped from the officual reposetories, on the official sourceforge page there is a meesage from the developer pondering about closing the project.

You can try and compile the software from the source code, this will be much more likely to succeed than that package.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gnomebaker/

Alternatively if you are not happy with Brasero you could try other burning software. k3b is arguably the best one for linux and is available in the ubuntu software center if you don't mind the kde dependencies(no real reason you should mind it in my opinion), xfburn is also an option.

Also, you should definately file bug reports about the problems you are having with brasero, that's the only way they will ever get fixed :)

Can you help with this problem?
