Please read this site. Wubi has not been maintained for three years. If you are using Wubi, then you must have Windows. My understanding is that Wubi will not work with Windows 8 and probably not 10. Which Windows do you have?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wubi_%28software%29

Before You Start. You can directly upgrade to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (“Precise Pangolin”) from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (“Lucid Lynx”). Be sure that you have all updates applied to your current version of Ubuntu before you upgrade. Be sure your system is in a stable state.Jan 23, 2014. copied from internet Doubt that you get any updates for 10.04, it has been EOL since May 2013. See site below.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

Why not try a dual boot, using Windows and Ubuntu 14.04. Please tell what Windows you are using, and how you have downloaded Ubuntu. Check sites below.

Wubi cannot be upgraded to the next release.
It was a quick and dirty try before you buy. Not a long term solution.
It was awful even when it was in development.

I suggest you wipe wubi off using Programs and features in Windows then resize your NTFS partition and install Trusty to the new space. You can restore your user data from your backups.

My windows program is gone, it started dying (vista home premium) and i
could not save it. I am sure my ignorance is showing. I used wine to run
wubi to attempt installing 12.04.5. I am sure i am way over my head. I
installed 10.04 (lucid) that a friend of mine gave me some years ago. when
I put it in the dvd drive it gave me the choice of installing it and i took
it, it was better than what i had. It is difficult for me to give an
accurate description because there is lots that i do not understand. Dan

I assume that you would like Ubuntu on your computer with no Windows. That is easy, except you do not have a computer to download Ubuntu. Do you have another computer, or a friend who has one? OR is 10.04 working enough, to go on internet and download Ubuntu? 10.04 is EOL (end of life) and will be hard to work with. I think the best thing to do is download Ubuntu 14.04, either on your 10.04, or a friends computer. Check sites below for information on installing Ubuntu 14.04. If you have questions, and you probably will just ask.
