printer recognition

new ubuntu linux user - printer not being sensed today altho yesterday I was able to print - the printer window tells me that no printer is detected even tho the indicated default printer says the print job is
 printing! HELP!

Are you using a USB printer? Turning the printer on/off, plugging it out and back in, or removing the printer and adding it again in the printer window might fix your problem. This is a problem that has occured with me even on Mac OS X, while using CUPS printing (the same system that Linux uses) for USB printers, and deleting the printer from the window and re-plugging/re-adding ususally results in a working setup.
