could not install GNOME desktop environment from ubuntu software software center

Asked by Hitesh Pariyani

hi, I have ubuntu 10.04 lts in my system, and i want to install mac-os theme in it. But for that i do have to install 'gnome-tweak-tool'. So, i tried installing repository and then the 'gnome-tweak-tool' by the following commands.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool

But when i hit enter after typin the last command it says :

$ sudo apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package gnome-tweak-tool

And 1 more, when i try to install gnome desktop environment from ubuntu software center it gives error "Package dependencies cannot be resolved"...
What should i do to install the above two of them ????

Gnome3 isn't suitable for Lucid and will break your OS.

By the way when you add a ppa you always need to type:

sudo apt-get update

then you can try to install the software...

Can you help with this problem?
