Ok a good way of doing themes is the Gnome Art Manager which you can find in Synaptic. It will download and install automatically for you if you want. It does themes, wallpapers, icons, and some other things. Here is a link to a great guide for it. It is probably the best way to go for you.

I have it installed already and it's nice. I'm asking if it can be included in the gnome-themes-ubuntu package for Jaunty so people can use a working version without going through much trouble.

Nopes its too late as jaunty is in feature freeze and no new additions will be accepted as already its in testing stage

try for karmic i.e 9.10
