Terminal disabled

I need to know how to use Terminal. I found it and it says it is Disable.How do I make it active or abled.
 I need it in order to Run my printer driver. I am using Ubunto 7.04

please try Alt+F2 and then type gnome-terminal what happens?

Hello Cathy,

okay that window what you see if you Press Alt+F2 and type gnome-terminal is called a terminal. Here you can enter commands to maintain your system. So what kind of printer should be installed and is the driver you will install via a terminal a linux driver? So a other way to install a printer is:

gnome panel ->system ->Administration ->printer ->add new printer
