You have a CD with 7.04 right? If you don't then follow this guide: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

Once you've done that (or if you already have the CD), I like to format my harddrive with a program called, Darik's Boot and Nuke, which you can find here: http://dban.sourceforge.net/
Then just install Ubuntu as usual.

So yea, it'll be quite easy.

Just pop in 7.04 into your hard drive, and follow the instructions carefully, and there's an option to erase the whole drive, and install Ubuntu on it. It's quite easy. Or you can go the Gparted Live CD to format/ partition your drive. Then, pop in 7.04 and install.
