how to configure .htaccess in apache2

       how can i configure .htaccess in apache2 when i copying a xyzmysite.conf file to conf.d my apache server is failing

Copy your xyzmysite.conf file to the /etc/apache2/sites-available directory. Then make a symlink to it from the /etc/apache2/sites-enabled directory, then reload apache.
