ubuntu contact fails
sudo action for install of apache2 fails because ubuntu website refuses connection

The password does not appear on the screen, it is a security feature, so others cannot see your password or it's length. You can paste into the gnome terminal program by using ctrl+shift+v copying is done in the same manner, ctrl+shift+c

The line stays blank if you type; that's normal. Just type your password
and hit enter.
