Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

I think I understand what you want to do, but please correct me if my assumptions are wrong.

It sounds like you want to use the Kate editor to compile source code, but it is failing because you don't have a Terminal defined.

Is that correct?

I think the problem is that you don't have the Konsole application installed. Konsole is the default KDE Terminal application and as Kate is a KDE application, it probably is expecting Konsole to be installed for this functionality to work.

You can install konsole by opening a terminal (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal) and typing the following:

sudo apt-get install konsole

After you have installed Konsole try using Kate to compile.

I hope this helps.

Can you help with this problem?
