gnome-terminal problem in ubuntu

Asked by Ravi

Hi,

I have installed ubuntu 8.10 desktop edition.
After installtion im able to play games and play movies,
but when i'm opened teriminal its just a white screen.
Where the letters are not visible, but, its working because when i typed "exit", it's been closed. I'm thinking, problem might be because my RAM, its 320 mb.
Kindly, give suggestions.

Ravi..

It doesn't sound like RAM if you're able to play games and movies.

In your terminal go to EDIT > PROFILES.

Click EDIT again with "Default" selected.

Go to the Background tab.

Click "Solid" color. Or another indicator. Right now it sounds like it is white. Change it to BLACK as the solid color. Click "CLOSE." Play around with this setting and see if it makes a difference.

I am willing to bet that your cursor is BLACK and your background is also BLACK, thus you are not able to see it. Generally, the terminal has a white background, not a black ground.

You can also use a transparent background is you wish or play around with the color schema from here (in profile editor).

Cheers,

Craig
