What is my group?

Asked by Peter Kapus

Tried to add launchpad sources to synaptic and got error message re PUBKEY, have to enter <myusername> <mygroupname> in terminal as described in mactelsupport's macbook pro installationguide which forgets to tell me what group i belong to, so i can run sudo apt-get update. Synaptic crashed when I added the ppa.launchpad.net sources.

To easily find out the group you belong to by going to System->Administration->Users and Groups in Gnome.
From the command line you can use this command:
groups

The launchpad page is misleading. The ##comment runs on into the next line w/o further ## I took it at first to be the next command to enter!
