Your password wont show up in a terminal. just type as if everything were normal and then hit enter. should work.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. For help on reporting bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

Hmmm, sudo uses your User password not you Root/SuperUser one. Yes it doesnt show you *s or anything so no-one can peek over your shoulder and get a clue about how long your password is ;)

Please try this command, is a terminal way to update your system.
We using this to test if you are still in trouble.

Open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

(if the system ask you a password give your user password, you will not see nothing when you type it, then press enter)

Hope this helps

Hi :)

Have you been able to test the new Ubuntu 10.04 before it gets officially released?
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/testing/lucid/beta1
Trying it as a LiveCd or as an extra dual/multi-boot would be ideal. Developers and everyone are keen to try to iron out any problems before 10.04 gets officially released so you might find faster & more effective answers to your bug reports which would make 10.04 work better on your system for you

Thanks and regards from
Tom :)

Can you help with this problem?
