Can't figure out the language to download Java

Asked by kellye

II'm trying to download Java. did the download and it showed in the download bar.. went back to Java to follow the install directions. Told me to go to the terminal and type su, then the root password.. wouldn't show the password as I typed it. So I don't know if that worked. Then the instructions said to change to the directory where I want to run it. What directory do I want and how do I get there? Why is this so complicated?? Thanks!!

Its not complicated go to synaptic package and search for the java you want (jre or jdk) and select the package you want.
