gnome-terminal screen blinks

Asked by Astrit Zhushi

gnome-terminal 2.14.0 ( Dapper ) is acting very strange. When the cursor can't move and you press arrow keys ( for example you start a terminal and press the left arrow key or page up key ) the screen blinks. This did not happend in earlier versions of gnome-terminal. I don't remember in which version this started to happen, probably 2.14.0.

It seems that this problem is not only with gnome-terminal but also with other apps. So far I found the sam behaviour with Firefox too, when you whant to find something on a page if the keyword is not found the screen blinks. Therefore, the problem seems to be somewhere else not in gnome-terminal.

Sounds to me like your problem lies within the way X is handlign your windows and has nothing to do with Gnome at all considering Firefox does not Use any thing from Gnome. The common problem would have to be the answer.

After all Dapper Drake not only is not ready for release but was also delayed for 6 more weeks, many of the included packages are unstable because they are awaiting stables for the release.

All I can say is make sure you have the latest Flight 6.04 Flight 5

Good luck

you are probably using the "Visual system beep" from gnome-sound-properties

Can you help with this problem?
