noob needs help

okay i was orginally having trouble with the flash plugins to watch videos and i havent been able to get is to work, I tried entering the code that was in some of the earlier answers but when i entered in it asked for my password, i am the admin for my computer, yet it would net allow me to type my pass in the terminal, why

You can type the password, the only thing is that you cannot see the password as you type it for security reasons. So just enter the password as normal and press Enter, if your password is right then it will be accepted.
