What do you type in the terminal?

sudo -s /etc/init.d/cupsys /etc/init.d/cups

I am trying to get my Brother HL-2030 net printer set up. When I have typed the above I am asked to give my password, but the whole keyboard goes dead when I try to type. I have tried 3 different keyboards with the same negative result. I an stuck and cannet use my printer.
Ubuntu will not open the install drivers from Brother I get the message "Archive type not supported". But they are Linux drivers - I think Debian.
Can you help me?
