Please not that passwords are case sensitive, and will not show up in the terminal while you are typing them.

passwords dont show up either as xxxxx or anything else
the reason u dont see while u type is security
and the root passwd should not be even guessed by any one
for eg if someone see xxxxx while u type ur passwd then they will instantly regognise that u r passwd is 5 characters long

How do you type password into terminal? is it same as login password?
