unable to see desktop window and menubar

After login I am unable to see my desktop icon, all folder and menubar.
Left side menu also not displayed.
when use "alt+tab" than it will also not show me the option for selecting the window.
when i minimize any window than i m not able to open that window from the left side menu because it is not showing me.

Which release of Ubuntu are you using please?

Details of the system are also required. Make and model etc.....

I don't know about Unity2D session.

what is this? Is this some type of tool? so how do I install it?

Its default installed. Select it from the login screen
