I am a beginner, to Ubuntu 7.10 , I am use to windows, where they do everything for you. I am trying to figure out how to play my dvd's , I have totem installed but get an error message, saying that I need a plug in, when I use the link that is given I can't tell what I need to download, and how to install it, can you help? thanks

It's a licensing issue. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats for more info.

In order to play most commercial DVDs (which are encrypted) you will need to follow the medibuntu directions https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu and install libdvdcss2.
