Lucid desktop is no longer supported in any way you can think of. I recommend a clean install of Precise which is LTS and supported til April 2017.

Don"t like new versions. 10.04 actually works well and gets stuff done. I still want to try NVIDIA.Help?

Its not supported in any way, the OS will work but there are zero packages for it and zero support from the community. Go ask Microsoft for Windows 98 support and tell them that you "don't like the new versions" see how far that gets you, same deal.
familiar 2 panel desktop.
If you dislike Unity then install Xubuntu 12.04. It is also LTS and will give the familiar 2 panel session.

How do you mean you want to try NVIDIA, nvidia make hardware, I guess you have an NVIDIA graphics card, what do you want to do with it?

Can you help with this problem?
