how do i start the command "RUN" on the ubuntu ? How do I open a terminal to do this? Thank you for helping.

i try to update the computer but a message appear" error - you need to run dkpg a.....".
How do I start the command "RUN" for this Ubuntu product { not window 7}
I read the forum and someone said " open a terminal and type it in" but how do you open a terminal?

Open the dash and type terminal.
