Terminal does not stay resized

Asked by Kristofer Pettijohn

Just upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10, and now Terminal will not stay resized. It opens in 80x24, and if I either manually resize it or resize it by going to Terminal > 80x43, as soon as I click on another window (Firefox for example), it jumps back to 80x24.

What would cause this to happen?

It stayed resized just fine in 12.04.

This only happens for me if I have multiple tabs in the terminal.

To reproduce:

 - Open a single terminal (CTRL-ALT-T or similar)
 - Stretch the window
 - Switch to any other app (click on it or alt-tab)
   - - Terminal window will NOT resize
 - Return to the new teminal window
 - Add a new tab (Shift-CTRL-T or similar)
 - Switch to any other app (click on it or alt-tab)
   - - Terminal window will still NOT resize
 - Return to the new teminal window (now with 2 tabs)
 - Stretch the window
 - Switch to any other app (click on it or alt-tab)
-- Terminal window WILL revert to the size it was before you added a tab to it.

I can confirm, please run:

ubuntu-bug gnome-terminal

and report the bug

If you use a terminal a lot, I recommend you use Guake :)

Can you help with this problem?
