Terminal password requested but nothing's writable.

Asked by gunnar gervin

I tried to install a rar reading/unpackaging program. Coming into the terminal window, a password is requested, but the password I created for logging in, is not possible to write; the cursor's blinking, but when I try writing something in there, neither dots nor letters appear. I have not-as I remember- created a password meant specially for sudo. Here is a copy of the terminal window:

gunnar@gunnar-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install unrar
[sudo] password for gunnar:
Sorry, try again.
[sudo] password for gunnar:
Sorry, try again.
[sudo] password for gunnar:
Sorry, try again.
sudo: 3 incorrect password attempts
gunnar@gunnar-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install unrar
[sudo] password for gunnar:

This is normal. There is no indication of a password when you enter it.

Just type your password and press enter. It is being accepted

Hi,
I solved my problem; found the unrar program in Ubuntu Package manager.
Sincerely, Gunnar.
