Was this a clean install?

If yes I think I would try to install again.

Download the latest version make sure you check the MD5sum just to make sure the download went without error.

Burn as slowly as your burner will allow.

If this still does not work let us know make and model of computer and any error messages you get

Latest version is available here:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/12.04/

Press CTRL+ALT+F1 and run:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo reboot
