sudo reboot

or

sudo reboot -f , for immediately - force reboot of the system.

or

sudo shutdown -r now (-r = reboot)

it keeps booting and going back to the dos mode and terminal , i want it to start like it did before i install 12.04

So when you boot, you don't get a GUI login screen? Is that right? If so, what do you see onscreen once you bootup?

No all i see is the black screen with the same terminal request

I upgrade to 12. 04 and it didn't upgrade right i was trying to make some changes and got into terminal while logging on I not sure how use the system .it is new to Me
