recovering the lost old history commands in terminal

I used to run my model on terminal sometimes I don't need to type the command rather I use the old once.

But now I lost my old command or command history can I recovery it back.

if you run:

less ~/.nano_history

Do you see the old commands?

I can,t see them it replies as

No such file or directory

Sounds like the file was deleted, which removes the history.

what happens when you try to search through the history by pressing Ctrl+r .
