Terminal help!

Hey,

  Im a complete newbie when it comes to linux ubuntu. I just got it about a week ago and its the first time i have ever used it. Im running 7.10. I really want to download programs and installl them, but i have no idea how to use the terminal! Can any body give me complete directions to install compiz? It would be REALLY helpful.

'compiz' is already installed on the version of ubuntu you have, you can enable it by going to system -> preferences -> appearance and going to the desktop effects tab.
