how to fix bug i386 bug#681924

Asked by Lori

when updating my netbook I received an error msg telling me to run dpkg --configure -a and an error msg n told to report the error. My synaptic package mgr is frozen and terminal claims it is a bad command, now my wireless driver is missing. I was told this is an old bug i386 also #681924, how do I fix it? I tried other commands like su in the terminal but it asks for a password but does not accept my login password, it also states dpkg requested operation requires super user privilege, this happened on both netbooks that I was updating, one still has the wireless connection driver, the other one lost it during this updating. Also, after downloading these updates my disc space is full, had plenty of space before downloading these updates, can anyone help please... thanks

The command to execute most probably is

sudo dpkg --configure -a

you have to enter your own password when requested so, but please note that you will not get any feedback for the password, no echo, not even '*' placeholders.

Thank you, I tried the sudo dpkg --configure -a then hit enter and it would not work so, I tried the tab button and it worked, thanks
