How to open a terminal command window

Hi All,

I've installed Ubuntu OS.

I want to practice UNIX commands.. Please let me know how to open the command window.

In windows, I use telnet application to connect with UNIX server and perform UNIX commands.

press <ctrl><alt>t

and gnome-terminal will open.
