N00b needs help installing wireless driver but completly clueless.
I have a Compaq Presario c571nr. I just downloaded and installed Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy. I am able to use ethernet to access internet but my wireless is not working. From what I have read so far on the internet, and after trying to configure my wireless, I have figured out that my internal wireless card is proprietary firmware meaning that it is not open source to Linux. However there is a driver that will work and I have downloaded the damn thing and I have no clue what to type or where to go and every time I type "sudo - whatever" I get messages that I need to enalbe a component called "universe" and I dont know what that is neither. Is there an easier way to just locate the .exe that I downloaded and double click to open it and have Ubuntu install it for me? I don't understand why everything you do in Linux has to be commanded by typing something. Any help will do.
