the terminal and the computer is not recognising my password

i keep getting an error message apt/deamon fault when i attempt to install download

Please paste all the error.

In a terminal run
sudo apt-get update
cat /etc/apt/sources.list -n

and paste this too.

The password in the terminal is hidden. You run the first command and press enter, and when the terminal want the password just insert it and press enter.
