The password is being typed. Just press enter. For security reasons (because often that text is copy pasted onto the internet), your keystrokes do not result in any change on the screen. The password is still accepted once you type it in and press enter.

If it says sorry try again, then you have entered in something that does not match your true password.

You may need to reset it in this case

I may be misunderstanding what you are doing; are you hitting enter as soon as it asks for the password (you comments lead me to believe that is what you are doing). If so, that is not correct. As soon as it asks for your password, type it in (there will be no action on the screen) then when you finish typing in your password then hit "enter". Sorry if I miss understood your comments.

@mycae should I type a different password there besides my user login password?

@Rodney, that is what exactly happening to me. I am unable to type the password, after I type anything after "sudo" they ask for your password, right? then I try to type in. NO CHARACTERS SHOW UP!
