I Need a boot floppy

Asked by Charlie S.

Hello,
I am a newcomer to Ububtu Linux. I do not know how to make a boot floppy, Please help(novice level).
My system has Ubuntu Breezy installed in the default partions of

hdb, this is a 40 GB disk so there is no problim with room.

I have installed on hda Windows XP SP2 with a disaster recovery system called Acronis True Image V8.0. this program works verry well and I Do Not wish to uninstall it for obvious reasons.
When Acronis installs it over wrote the MBR so that you can recover your system before Windows starts. It ouverwrote the GRUB boot manager, hence the need for a boot floppy.

Any assistance would be greatly apreciated.

thanks,
Charles Shaffer

Have you in your system a CD drive capable of booting from it, and any bootable Ubuntu CD?

You can take a look at http://btmgr.webframe.org/ if you really need a boot floppy.

But if your system supports booting of cd-rom you can use a ubuntu live-cd and follow the steps at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RecoveringUbuntuAfterInstallingWindows

Hello!

I have that exact problem! I a quite-old PC its boot init program cannot include the CD as a part of the boot secuence, therefore I need a boot disc and instructions for installing Ubuntu since this boot floppy.

.... and the address http://btmgr.webframe.org/ is not longer working.

Thanks in advance
