How can I create a sudo password?

Asked by Asoka Dissanayake

I cannot run any commands in Terminal as it asks for a password. My user password is not accepted. I would prefer not to have a password for running commands in Terminal.

I use Ubuntu 11.04.

When you type a password into terminal, any screen chars are showed, so please type your user password then press enter.

* marcobra means, "NO characters are displayed on Terminal if your input your password.". Just input your password and press Enter key when done*

If you want to run commands without sudo at the beginning, just open "root terminal".
This will ask password in gui mode which will show you "*" for each character entered as password(normal password behavior).

The password is your logon password, no feedback is given to hide length. If you want feedback you can use:

gksudo command

(for KDE use: kdesu command)

and there will be a pretty box you can type in but it's a bit overkill. Just type the password and hit enter, it will work.

With getting more and more familiar with using the Terminal (now in 12.04), this now appears to be a very minor issue.
