I would like to know how to find the computer name or system name for my PC

Asked by Krystle Stephens

I am applying for an online job and they are asking for the computer name or system name of my PC. They say it is not the Operating system of the type of computer I have so I was wondering how I would find that.

Are you sure this is not a scam ? It certainly sounds like one. I see no reason why an employer would need to know this. Do you know who this employer is? Have you met them before? It could be someone posing as an employer who wants to gain access to your computer.

At any rate, you can get this from the system->adminstration->system monitor program. The name is underlined.

If you are in doubt, find someone whom you can ask if this is a scam or not -- are there any skilled computer people in your area you know?

You can find your computer name just entering a Terminal and looking at that part: "Cross@<HereGoesYourComputerName>:~$

Can you help with this problem?
