Browser:
Mark Text -> Right Click on it -> Copy
Or simply Ctrl + C.

Terminal: Right Click anywhere inside the Terminal -> Paste
Note that Ctrl + C won't work. Ctrl + C in Terminal is like Alt + F4 in Windows. It quits running applications or commands.

The function in gnome-terminal is essentially the standard ctrl C/V but
throw in a shift.

Ctrl+Shift+V to paste and such.

And the web browser HAVE to be open while you paste. This is a feature, not a bug. (I always want to say this).
In the profile settings you can set Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to copy and paste respectively.

And I recomend you to install and use Glipper, very useful.
