Simply follow these instructions:

http://www.multimediaboom.com/how-to-install-real-player-11-in-ubuntu-11-04-10-10-10-04/

When sudo asks for your password, simply enter the password you use to log into Ubuntu. sudo will NOT show the password while you are typing it. This is normal and password is not displayed for security reasons.... Enter your password and hit <ENTER>

Hi Mark, thanks for the help. I actually did what you suggested from the beginning and terminal kept coming back with wrong password so I gave up. I then set about installing Real Player from their packet and Terminal seem to function even though it had denied three -four times. I've no idea if it's installed correctly? And I don't know if it will start automatically when I need it? I guess I'll find out with time.
